What is meth (P)?
Methamphetamine – or 'P' as it is commonly referred to – is part of the amphetamine family and is a powerful stimulant.
If you are using meth then this is probably a redundant question. You know what meth is. It’s the white substance that has taken over your life. It has more than likely isolated you from your friends, family and community. It has probably compromised your morals, leading you to do things you never thought you would do. Meth is what gets you out of bed in the morning, drives you to spending your day finding ways to get more.
Meth might have seemed like a good way to keep you up while studying, to work harder and to get things done faster. Meth might have helped block out unwanted feelings or give you the confidence to face the world.
But what is meth to you now? What are you gaining from continuing to use meth? You don’t have to answer these questions right now – think about them for a minute or two: then pick up the phone and call someone to talk about how to get help. A good place to start is the Alcohol Drug Helpline – 0800 787 797. They provide a free, confidential service for anyone struggling with drugs.
